This track is about that moment in any kind of relationship that a person realizes they can't live with 'em, yet can't live without 'em. The outcome of that realization has only two options. It either works or it doesn't. While We Work It Out depicts this pinnacle point, describing in honest terms the internal knowing a choice needs to be made in how long to stay and when to go.
lyrics
Oh tell me how there is this light
It glows right behind your eyes
I love your smile, the way you laugh
and just being my best friend.
Cuz it feels good, feels right, feels uh
feels just like it should be.
But too much time, too much love
too much hanging around.
Turns to a mess, I cannot breathe
and yet it still kind of seems like it
feels good, feels like it should be.
We both know we've been trying.
Please give us time, while we work it out.
There is trust, there is hope
there's just something bout us both
I can't resist, can only touch
and give you all of my love.
Cuz it feels good, feels right, feels uh
feels just like it should be.
So it was me, no it was you
oh really what could we do?
Except for run, inside our heads
and try and try to pretend that it
feels good, feels like it should be.
We both know we've been trying.
So please give us time, while we work it out.
